I hope you don’t find this too boring but this is the story of how and why I set up the Business
Blossom & Balloons.
Always being creative from a young age, having excelled in it over the years more than academic subjects. When leaving school I took up artistic and textile A levels. Where I then ended up at The University of Central England; doing a Fine Art (BA) Hons Degree where I specialised in sculpture.Like many graduates’ find themselves unemployed or never finding jobs in what they are qualified in. I found myself in a dead end job.
When my Dad unfortunately passed away of pneumonia at the age of 57, understandably came as a huge blow to me. I remember going to the florists to order a floral tribute for the funeral. The assistant gave my mum & I a book and placed us in the corner of the shop like we was an inconvenience. It was hard enough being there without being made to feel this way. When the dust had settled and a little time had passed; I thought to myself if I’ve learnt one thing from this life is too short. If you can’t find a creative job, make one. This is when I started along the lines of becoming a personal florist. I trained at Broomfield Hall a part of Derby College for two years and also completed balloon decorating training in Stoke.
My Aim with Blossom and Balloons Fundamentally is to be a personal florist, I am there to give a more personal service and moulded to your needs. If you be the busy working bride and can only meet in evenings and has a tight budget or having just lost a loved one and can’t bare to go out at that point in time. You can be in the comfort of your own home if you’re upset I’ve been there. We can talk through the loved ones hobbies, your memories or their favourite flowers and colours to come up with the perfect fitting tribute to them. A good example of this is just over a year ago my boyfriend died at the age of 33.One memory I always have is he always used to sing a song to me over karaoke ‘Wooden Heart’ by Elvis. So I made a wooden heart and I thought it was beautiful and truly unique just like he was.
